St.Augustine

Image result for st augustine   Good day to my dear classmates and teachers. I’m here to present the short biography and philosophy of St.Augustine.
St.Augustine of Hippo was an Algerian Roman philosopher and theologian of  the late Roman early medieval period. His ground breaking philosophy infuse Christian doctrine and Neo-Platonism.He is also known for the contribution on western philosophy. He argues that there is no knowledge that Rene Descartes later made famous. Augustine says “If I am mistaken, I am” He is also the first western promote “The argument by analogy” against solipsism by analogy, existence is everything I experience. He is one of the most important early figure in development of Western Christianity, and brought dominance in Christianity in the previously pagan Roman Empire. He is often considered as “father of orthodox theology” and greatest of the four great fathers of Latin Church.
AurelisAgustinus his real name but usually known as Augustine was born on November 13,354 is Thagaste a provincial Roman city in Algeria. North Africa, His father Patricius was a pagan, while his mother Monica was a catholic so he was raised as one At 11 of age, he was sent to Numidian town to attend school where he became familiar with Latin literature as well pagan belief and practices. His interest in philosophy soon started to spark as he read dialogue by the Roman philosopher and politician Cicero’s “Hortensius”.At the age of 17,he was went to Carthage. Tunisia wherein he was influenced of the controversial cult ofManichaenism while continuing his studies. He lived a hedonism life style for time,and visits the brothels of carthage where he met and had a relationwith a young women named FloriaAemilia, he concubine for over fifteen years, and who bore him a son, Adeodatus returning from his hometown after two years teaching grammar, he went back to chartage spending nineteen years conducting a rhetoric until 383 at the age of 29 he move to Rome to teach rhetoric but disappointment to the schools at Rome he soon accepted appointment as professor of rhetoric for imperial court at Milan , Initially embracing Skeptanism of the New Academy movement during his time at Rome and Milan, he move away Manicheanism. Augustine was inclined toward Christianity due to his own study Neo-platonism. In 386, he officially converted to catholic Christianity abandoned rhetonic, position in Milan society of marriage and devoted his self to God the priesthood and celibacy. Which was all detailed at his famous ”Confession”  that became classic of both Christian  theology and world literature.  In the midst of returning  to Africa 388. His mother died soon after his son was next leaving him alone in the world without a family. Selling his patrimony, giving the money to the poor, converting his family house to a monastic foundation, he was later ordained a priest and later on bishop at Hippo Regius and Mediterranean coast of Algeria, opposing manicheanism and heresies such as denotism and Palegianism. He remained in his position working tirelessly to convert diverse local racial and religious group to catholic faith until his death in 430.Augustine died on August 28,430 at the age of 75 during the siege of Hippo by Germanic vandals. He was made a saint of the roman catholic, Anglican and eastern orthodox churches which he was known as blessed Augustine or St. Augustine or  St.Augustine the blessed. He was made pre-eminent Doctor of the Church in 1298.
His writings, the most important of which are “confessions and the City of God” have left deep impress upon the doctrines and the entire literature of Roman Church. For him, as for Plato science means a purer, clearer more exalted life, the life of the thinker. St.Augustine is perfectly aware of insoluble difficulties which human freedom considered in its relations to devine prescience.  The philosophers admires and respects the ancients virtues.
No other philosopher has exerted so deep so abiding an influence upon popular throught as has St.Augustine. From his day to our own orthodox theology has been based upon his teaching. All the evangelical demonical barrow view of God.St.Augustine recognized that Christian belief and Christian life are ihseparable. For life to be Christian,it need to have appropriate goal happiness in God and to constituted by right actions accord with will of God. At the heart of St.Agustine.
